HIP
Hip pain refers to a sensation of discomfort or unease localized in the hip region, which encompasses the upper part of the thigh, the hip joint, and the buttocks. Individuals with hip pain may experience a range of sensations, including aching, stiffness, or soreness in the muscles, tendons, ligaments, or joints surrounding the hip. The pain may be intensified by activities such as walking, running, or sitting for extended periods. Hip pain can manifest on one or both sides and may be accompanied by limited range of motion, swelling, or a clicking sensation in the joint. Underlying causes of hip pain are diverse and can include conditions such as osteoarthritis, bursitis, muscle strains, tendinitis, or hip labral tears, necessitating a comprehensive assessment for accurate diagnosis and tailored treatment.
A few notable hip conditions:
Osteoarthritis
Degeneration of the hip joint cartilage, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced range of motion.
Hip Bursitis
Inflammation of the bursae (fluid-filled sacs) around the hip joint, causing pain and tenderness.
Tendinitis
Inflammation of the tendons around the hip joint, often due to overuse or strain.
Hip Labral Tear
Damage to the ring of cartilage (labrum) surrounding the hip socket, leading to pain and potential instability.
Snapping Hip Syndrome
Tendons or muscles rub over the hip joint, creating a snapping sensation and sometimes causing discomfort.
Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS)
Inflammation of the iliotibial band, a fibrous tissue that runs along the outside of the thigh and can cause hip pain.
Hip Dysplasia
Abnormal development of the hip joint, which can lead to joint instability and pain.
Trochanteric Bursitis
Inflammation of the bursa located on the outer part of the hip, causing pain and tenderness.
Hip Fractures
Breaks or cracks in the bones of the hip, often associated with trauma, falls, or osteoporosis.
Inguinal Hernia
Part of the intestine or abdominal tissue protrudes through the inguinal canal, causing pain that can radiate to the hip region.
Referred Pain
Conditions such as kidney stones or gynecological issues may cause pain that is felt in the hip area.

Testimonial
I came to visit Sin Osteopathic a week ago due to a heavily sprained ankle. I took a wrong step down the stairs while distracting by my phone. The physician checked my ankle carefully and arranged for a x-ray at Columbia Hospital. Luckily, I had no fracture. They did acupuncture, adjustment and applied Chinese herbs to my ankle on the following visit. Today, my ankle got less swollen and I can start to walk with both feet, feeling more balance right now.
